Rebel Dogg: who?
Rebel Dogg was born in 2002 with a simple aim in mind: Make stuff we like and sell it…
Following a number of difficult years chasing wholesale business, resulting in mostly stress and bewilderment, we made the decision to ignore the high street shops (despite getting into 6 Whistles stores and countless boutiques etc) and focus on our end-users: you lot!
We have traded for many years on London’s markets and currently enjoy a high turnover position in Covent Garden’s Apple Market, where we test our new ideas, promote our web business, meet our international customers and properly get to know what you want. Our products are all made by hand, in Banbury Oxfordshire, in response to direct market research.
We love what we do and take pride in the fact that we can deliver designer fashion accessories and the best quality materials at affordable prices. The average price for one our belts would not buy you a Chinese bulk manufactured cheap leather belt in any high street shop... and who wants to look like everyone else?
Our belts are all cut on a curve to ensure a snug fit all the way around the waist or hips, with no gaps, as you will find with cheaper made belts. We love women, and make stuff to fit women’s bodies – designed to flatter, enhance and fit properly, regardless of body shape. To this end we have always made our products by hand, ourselves, in our studio/workshop in Banbury, sourcing our materials from local businesses also struggling against the pressures from the far east, in an industry that has been properly hammered by the advent of global mass manufacturing.
We truly run things in Rebel Dogg, with a small team working their butts off – usually 7 days a week! We design, manufacture, sell, administer the business, web design, accounts, PR, you name it, we do everything ourselves. We regard Rebel Dogg as a “micro business”, dependant on the support and patronage of our direct customers who themselves are sick of having no quality/affordable designer choices in the high street, with prices just getting ever higher.
We can run our business in this way precisely because it is so small and we have such loyal customers. This can be a struggle at times when we get busy, but overall it means we can control our own destiny and not lose sight of the fun and enjoyment we came into the industry for in the first place.
We are creatives who enjoy making stuff… and big business doesn’t mix well with that!
